The brief

Our client, a global technology and information analysis organisation founded in the US, approached us when they needed to shut down their primary presence in Berkshire, UK. All 68 roles on site were being made redundant, so the client wanted to provide comprehensive outplacement support to a diverse employee base, from long-tenured senior leaders (some with 30+ years’ service) to junior, technical specialist roles, whilst maintaining business as usual in the 6-month period to the site closure.

Our approach

We began by delivering presentations directly to the impacted employees so they could hear from us personally and directly on the support available and ask any questions. This personal approach boosted employee engagement, while reducing fear and uncertainty, and creating a feeling of control and calm during a period of significant change.

We successfully supported all impacted employees regardless of level through a mixture of tailored 1:1 coaching and a range of workshops. These included essential job search skills, CV and LinkedIn support, setting up in business, preparing for retirement, as well as support to identify their transferrable skills and future options of what they would like to do next.

Due to the overwhelming success of the project in the UK, the client subsequently approached us to support further site closures in 25 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, impacting upwards of 220 employees over a phased 3 year period.
