Case study | Global employee benefits

Digital media group confidently take control of global benefits

How we supported US-based digital media group in transforming their global benefits landscape across sixteen countries.

Client overview

Business type

Global digital media and technology group

Locations

US-based

Employees

4,000+ employees worldwide

Key outcomes

  • Centralised global benefits strategy simplified processes across sixteen countries
  • Visibility of benefits spend and performance enabled smarter decision making
  • Enhanced day to day support relieved pressure on a very lean HR team

The challenge

The business had grown rapidly through acquisition, leaving their global benefits landscape fragmented and difficult to manage. A very small HR team in the US was responsible for supporting more than two thousand employees outside the US, yet lacked the visibility, data and partner support required to run benefits effectively.

Key challenges included:

  • Limited oversight of existing benefits across all countries, with plans spread across multiple regions and entities
  • Difficulty accessing timely and proactive support from their existing broker, with renewals becoming cyclical and reactive
  • Expanding into new countries, including Sweden, where previous implementations had been slow, poorly managed and culturally misaligned

The solution

NFP partnered with the client to deliver full global benefits management across all sixteen countries outside the US. Acting as both broker and strategic adviser, we helped them gain clarity over their global benefits landscape and introduced a structured, forward looking governance model.

Our approach included:

  • Conducting a detailed audit of benefits in every country to identify compliance gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for consolidation
  • Two days of in person deep dive workshops with the global and local HR teams to align on strategy, priorities and the history of each benefit plan
  • Creating a coordinated global benefits framework supported by regular work logs, fortnightly calls and consistent local expertise across the UK, Ireland and all other regions

The results
