Creating a global reward framework through salary and benefits benchmarking

Bringing consistency, transparency and confidence to Restek’s global reward

Client overview

Business type

Manufacturing (chemical sector)

Locations

The UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, China, Japan

Employees

500

Key outcomes

  • Salary and benefits benchmarking completed for 7 countries and 58 roles
  • Improved consistency and equity across international reward practices
  • Clear visibility of market competitiveness for both pay and benefits

The challenge

Over time, each of Restek’s locations had developed its own salary structures and benefits approaches, making it difficult to understand overall competitiveness or ensure fairness across markets. This meant leaders lacked a single, trusted view of how salaries and benefits compared across countries, limiting their ability to make confident reward decisions.

Restek asked NFP to establish a clear, data‑driven foundation for salary benchmarking and benefits benchmarking, one that respected local market conditions while supporting a coherent global reward approach.

Key challenges included:

  • Inconsistent salary approaches across countries
  • Limited visibility of benefits competitiveness by market
  • Difficulty comparing total reward packages internationally
  • Increased risk of inequity and retention pressure

The solution

NFP partnered with Restek to deliver a structured salary and benefits benchmarking programme, providing a consistent, market‑aligned view of total reward across the organisation’s international footprint.
Our approach focused on accuracy, comparability and practical insight, ensuring benchmarking outputs could be confidently used to inform decisions.

NFP delivered:

  • Benchmarking salaries of 44 core roles across seven core countries to highlight where roles were aligned to market, under‑market or over‑market.
  • Benchmarking benefits provision across each country, allowing Restek to understand how its benefits compared locally and internationally to ensure they remained competitive in all their locations.
  • Translating benchmarking data into clear, visual insights and working sessions with HR and senior leaders. These sessions helped prioritise where action was most needed and ensured benchmarking findings were properly understood in a business context.
